British Columbia vs New Brunswick, Interprovincial Match

Dear Team BC,

Many congratulations to each of you for an outstanding result in the Interprovincial match between British Columbia and New Brunswick. This match was the first of many, for the years ahead and we're proud of your excellent contribution to the team.

Team BC went in as the favorites, however, New Brunswick has over the last few years developed a thriving chess scene and were not to be underestimated. Round 1 was close, with a score of 13-11 with team BC having started with the white pieces. Prior to the start of Round 2, Vincent (Sky's father) had some good words of advice and motivation for the team. This time around with the black pieces BC had a more convincing score of 17.5- 6.5. The overall result was 30.5- 17.5 in favour of team BC.

Stephen Wright informed us that there might be a historical precedent for this event that took place via correspondence in the 1940s! He has promised to dig up some details.

Players who finished with an individual score of 1.5 or 2/2 may collect their medals on any Saturday from our Jericho location between 9 am and noon.

Thank you to our team captain Antonia Bonnis for her leadership skills and assistance with french translation for some of the New Brunswick parents and students. Immense gratitude to parents, coaches, and arbiters, for the critical role they play in the overall success of our young talents. Thank you Team New Brunswick for being such worthy opponents and displaying great sportsmanship.

Again, huge congratulations to Team BC. Well done!
