What is Vancouver Rapid? This is an annual friendly tournament between various teams in B.C.

This season we have teams from BC Juniors, BCS, Chigorin Chess Club, Kingchops, PoCo Chess Club, SFU, TTT and UBC. Vancouver Chess School will be represented by two teams VCS-1 and VCS-2. The tournament has 7 matches begins in September 2014 and ends in April 2015. Ten registered teams will play 7 rounds Swiss System tournament. After regular season best 8 teams will continue their participation in play-off. Team VCS won the first season of Championship 2012-13. Last year’s winner was BC Juniors team.

Date:   Tuesday, once per month except semi finals & final

Sep 16, Oct 21, Nov 18, Dec 16, Jan 20, Feb 17, Mar 17, Apr 21, Apr 28 & May 5 (final) 

Eligibility:   By Invitation only

Time:   Check in time: 6:30-6:55pm

*Will start round 1 at 7:00pm. Round 2 & 3 are subject to change

Format:   Scheveningen System. 3 rounds each match. 7 matches in total

Time Control:   G/15 + 10

Unrated. Chess sets and clocks are provided

Pairing:   Match #2, Oct 21

Prizes:

• 3 individual trophies for the best performance during the season
• Perpetual trophy for the winning team
