Vancouver Chess School provides a professional chess education program to students ranging from beginners to advanced tournament players. ♟️

We believe that through learning, playing, and competing in chess, children develop valuable skills: 🧠 concentration, 🔍 abstract reasoning, and 💡 rational problem-solving — all while tapping into their creativity and having fun!

📅 Camp Daily Schedule

Here are samples of our interactive activities:

• 🖥️ Chess lessons using electronic presentations and videos
• ♟️ Chess tournaments in fun formats: Rapid, Blitz, Bughouse, Blindfold
• 🧩 Chess puzzle solving, game analysis, and simultaneous exhibitions

🎒 What to Bring

• 🍱 Lunch, snacks, and water (no lunch re-heating service available)
• 🚫 We are a nut-free zone
• 📵 Please leave electronic gadgets at home

🚗 Drop Off / Pick Up

Please arrive between 8:30–9:00 AM for check-in. Campers must be signed in at drop-off and signed out at pick-up by authorized individuals.

📄 Please print and submit the consent form on the first day (emailed to you in advance).

🍕 Pizza lunch for all campers!

💵 Fees (5-Day Camp: Monday to Friday)

• 🕘 Full Day (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM): $375
  Sibling discount: 20% off for second or more family members
• 🕘 Half Day (9:00–12:00 PM or 12:00–3:00 PM): $225
  No sibling discounts

🛒 Camp space is reserved with full payment online.

👕 VCS Chess Camp T-Shirt

• 🎁 All full-day campers (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM) receive a free VCS T-shirt
• 🛍️ Half-day campers may purchase a shirt for $30

📋 Policies

• 🚫 VCS reserves the right to refuse or dismiss participants to ensure safety and enjoyment
• 🗣️ English communication skills are essential

✅ Camp Confirmation

Minimum of 6 students is required to confirm the camp. When confirmed, it will be marked as “Confirmed” on our Events page and flyer, and you’ll receive an email notification 5 days prior.

💰 A full refund will be provided if the minimum enrollment is not met.

❌ Withdrawal Policy

Withdrawals with refund must be requested in writing more than one week prior to the start date.

• ❗ No refunds less than one week before camp or during camp
• ❗ No pro-rated refunds for missed days

📸 Photography

VCS may use photos or videos taken during camp for promotional purposes (website, social media, flyers, etc.).

If you do not wish for your child’s image to be used, please submit a written request in advance.
